Tell us about your store.
After a career in technology and venture capital, our CEO, Laura Jennings, founded KNACKSHOPS.COM in 2015 convinced that the future of ecommerce resided in putting the customer front and center. “Take it or leave it” retailers would be pushed aside by “tell me how you’d like it, please” disruptors who harness technology to deliver exactly what the customer wanted every time.
Fast forward to 2020, Knack specializes in luxury, customizable gifts paired with an unforgettable unboxing experience. We’re the only platform that allows customers to customize everything on our site, including the items in our gift sets as well as the nametags and gift messages. We offer exclusive Gift Builder technology that allows our customers to build gifts from scratch for any occasion. We also have an exclusive “Shop by Ethos” feature that allows you to select meaningful gifts that support your personal and professional values. Last but not least, we have robust business gifting programs paired with gifting expertise and advanced technology solutions that meet the specific needs of the business community.
What’s the story behind the name Knack?
The name of the company was inspired by the concept of “having a knack for giving” – essentially our expertise in all things gift giving for both businesses and the everyday consumer. Our original company URL was knackforgiving.com but people associated it with a charitable organization so we had to evolve. Our website changed but the name “Knack” stuck.
Why do you choose to offer Rustico items in your store? Is there something specific about our brand that speaks to your customers?
We love that Rustico offers incredibly beautiful, handcrafted made-to-order leather goods and uses American-sourced leather. Not only that, Rustico offers a great value for quality leather goods created in the US. We also really appreciate Rustico’s values focus on authenticity, generosity, craftsmanship, and purpose.
How are you leaving your mark in your community and/or with your customers?
Gifts are about connections and we’re passionate about the power of gifting to bring people together. And we believe that great gifts have stories. Stories about experiences and values, about exciting finds you can’t wait to share, about welcoming and thanking and connecting. Stories that both the recipient and giver still want to tell years after the gift has been opened.
Do you have any exciting upcoming projects or store events you can tell us about?
We very recently soft-launched a Women’s Empowerment collection of gifts to honor the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment in 2020.
