What It Means to Leave Your Mark

What It Means to Leave Your Mark

We talk a lot about the Leave Your Mark concept here at Rustico. It’s our mantra and a deep part of our company purpose. But letting that idea take hold is not always a simple process. Considering what it means, then what it means to you can lead to two different answers. Even internally when we talk about this concept, the answers we gather from our team are never the same.

And that’s what we love about it.

No two journeys are the same. No two people’s hopes are identical. Each person has a unique story to tell and a powerful impact to make. It’s no wonder our answers are different – they are genuine.

Personal perspectives, families, friends, environments, lives, and wants all influence our thoughts on leaving our mark. But they all stem from a similar root: to make a positive impact.

We know you share that desire (and we love you for it). But if you’re not sure where to start, here are a few ways you can begin to Leave Your Mark.

Contribute to the greater good.

For some this means donating hours. For others it means a financial gift. And still for others, it means smiling at a neighbor, helping a friend, or choosing to live positively. Start big or small, just start.

Tell your story to someone who needs to hear it.

There’s no doubt you’ve had an experience worth sharing; one that would uplift someone else. Don’t be afraid to share it.

Make a positive impact in someone else’s life.

You don’t have to work miracles to make someone else’s life better. An act as simple as listening is sometimes a miracle in itself.

Get inspired, live inspired, and inspire someone else.

Be open to inspired living, self-discovery, taking chances and changing your mind. Seek meaningful things – whatever they are to you – and encourage others to do the same.

Do work that matters.

Work you’re passionate about is one of life’s greatest opportunities. Work hard at work that matters – to you, your family, your country, your community, your peers, or to an important cause.

Seek to live a fulfilled life.

Taking care of ourselves allows us to be better at taking care of others. Don’t leave yourself off your list of priorities.

Take these concepts and make them your own. Or better yet, create your own list. Leave Your Mark daily – in your work, a friend’s life, or simply in the way you choose to live. Stringing small acts together everyday will create an incredible message in the end.

What will yours say?
