Chemicals will weaken the leather over time. Be patient. Its ruggedness will grow in character with you.
Don't be afraid of a scuff. Lick your finger. Rub it in. The oils from your skin shape the patina's look over time. So go ahead. Handle it!
Avoid leaving leather for extended periods of time in direct sunlight or extreme heat. We recommend Rustico's Custom Designed Leather Cleanerfor additional leather cleaning and conditioning.

What an amazing notebook! I just started getting into birding a few weeks ago and found that I wanted to keep a birding journal. This is hands down the most beautiful one I found. The color of the leather (saddle) is beautiful, the feel is amazing and it smells wonderful! The photos don’t do this journal justice! There are some tiny details that I wanted to point out:
-I purchased the pro and it is a bit harder to write on right now since the paper is so heavy and doesn’t lay flat. Not a huge deal but it’s a little uncomfortable.
- I use my Cannon Selphy square with the sticky back paper and print the photos that I take of the birds. The sticky back of the photo paper does not stick to the paper in the notebook. I ended up just using a glue stick. Again, not a huge deal but just a heads up for anyone wanting to use stickers or put photos in their journal.
Also, can this please PLEASE be made into a refillable journal instead of stitches? Or at least have an option to choose refillable or stitched. This layout is perfect and I would love to just be able to refill the notebook with a new insert instead of buying a the whole leather notebook over again.

In an era where so many things are stored in electronic fashion, what attracted to us to this journal was its simplicity and quality of design. The pages have ample room for observations and notes on our avian fines. Couldn’t be happier with the quality and speedy nature of delivery.
First off, the bird log book is so well made and actually so cool. I got it for my boyfriend for an anniversary gift and I just know he is going to flip out. Second, I actually got it quite quickly. I thought I was going to get it the day before I saw him, and I ended up getting it after maybe a week. I will definitely be purchasing from Rustico again!!
